Cleaning and Lifespan of the Flask
How do I clean the flask?
Everything can be cleaned with water except the motors. These must not get wet. There is a chance that this could damage the display.
The breast pump is easy to clean with warm water (30 degrees), or by boiling it in water for 4-5 minutes. We do not recommend the dishwasher. There is too great a chance that parts will shrink or crack. We recommend hand washing with liquid dish soap. This way, the lifespan of the parts is the longest. Afterwards, the parts can be dried with a hydrophilic cloth, or left to air dry on a clean cloth.
Don't forget to consult the manual of your breast pump for specific cleaning guidelines.
How long do parts last?
Parts are very important for our breast pumps. If a part is defective, there is a good chance that the motor will also become defective because the motor cannot run smoothly and will wear out quickly. This is immediately noticeable in suction power. If suction power decreases, a valve may not be seated properly or may be defective.
The lifespan of valves is 3-6 months.
The other silicone parts have a longer lifespan of 6-10 months.
The motor and the container do not need to be replaced.
My parts are already broken, what now?
It can occasionally happen that something breaks prematurely. First of all, we provide a 1-year warranty on the pump. Contact us and we will resolve it from there. We have already helped many mothers positively and you will be the next!
Handy tips for optimal pumping
The breast pump hurts, what now?
Pain during pumping can have various causes, but it is important to address any issues quickly. Here are some tips and advice for dealing with pain during pumping:
1: Incorrect breast shield size. Check if the shield or flange fits properly. A shield that is too large or too small can cause friction and pain. It is important to measure the nipple and add 1-2mm. This is because the nipple always expands slightly during pumping. There is a card included in the box that allows you to measure the nipple size.
2: Incorrect suction strength. Adjust the suction settings to a level that feels comfortable. Start with a lower suction strength and gradually increase it until you find a level that is effective but not painful.
3: Insufficient lubrication/cream. Use lanolin or vegetable oil to gently lubricate the nipple and breast shield before you start pumping. This can help reduce friction and irritation.
4: Incorrect position and sessions that are too long. Limit the duration of pumping sessions. Sessions that are too long can lead to overstimulation and pain. Try to limit sessions to about 15-20 minutes per breast. Also, ensure a comfortable sitting position during pumping. Use pillows to support the breast and avoid leaning forward, which can cause extra pressure on the breast.
5: Stress and tension. Find a relaxed environment to pump in. Stress and tension can affect milk flow and cause pain. Take time for yourself and relax during pumping.
How do I pump as efficiently as possible with my Evite pump?
Efficient pumping is important to save time and stimulate optimal milk production. Of course, we also want the best for your little one. Here are some handy tips for you.
1: Pump at regular times. Maintain a regular pumping schedule, similar to your baby's feeding times. Regular pumping promotes milk production.
2: Pump both sides simultaneously. If you have purchased a 2-pack, consider pumping both sides at the same time. This can increase total milk production and shorten pumping time.
3: Adjust suction strength and speed. Experiment with the suction strength and speed of our pump to determine what is most comfortable and effective for you.
4: Massage your breasts before pumping and use warmth. Gently massage your breasts and nipples before you start pumping. This can stimulate the let-down reflex and facilitate milk release. Also, apply warmth to your breasts. This can improve blood flow and stimulate milk flow.
5: Take breaks if needed. Listen to your body. If you feel your milk flow slowing down, take a short break and try again.
Other questions and solutions
1: Insufficient milk production during pumping:
• Possible causes: Stress, fatigue, irregular pumping, or poor pumping technique.
• Solutions: Create a relaxed environment, pump at regular times, ensure adequate rest, and improve your pumping technique.
2: Difficulty with let-down reflex:
• Possible causes: Stress, distraction, or lack of a stimulating environment.
• Solutions: Try to relax, use warmth on your breasts, look at a photo of your baby, or listen to soothing music to encourage the let-down reflex.
3: Low suction power of the pump:
• Possible causes: Problems with the pump motor, parts have not been replaced for a long time, or are not fitted properly. Possibly wear and tear.
• Solutions: Check the parts. Are they still properly fitted and do they appear to be in good condition? Then contact us. Otherwise, we recommend purchasing new parts.
4: Milk flow stops prematurely:
• Possible causes: Insufficient stimulation, problems with the pump motor, or clogged milk ducts.
• Solutions: Ensure sufficient stimulation, check the pump motor and breasts for blockages.
5: Lactation consultant. If you continue to experience problems during pumping, consulting a lactation consultant or contacting the pump manufacturer’s customer service can also be helpful. These professionals can provide personalized advice based on your specific situation.
